Supervisor
Job Description
General:
The Supervisor is responsible for maintaining and assuring
a quality of life within the homes that reflects the values, goals,
and objectives outlined in the Friendship Ark Homes Mission Statement.
The Supervisor will actively participate in the daily life of the
homes’ core members. The Supervisor will provide core member support
and foster participation in home and community activities, with a
focus on the development of independent and interdependent living
skills. The Supervisor will be responsible for staff performance and
will work directly with the Executive Director in staff development.

Supervises:
All employees and volunteers associated with the homes.
Status:
Non-Exempt
Responsibilities:
General
Duties: Performs all duties as outlined in the Live-Out Assistant’s
job description. In addition supervises, coordinates, and provides
direct service in the following areas of activity:
Core Member
Services
- Will hold
periodic house meetings with the core members to encourage the
participation of daily living in a family style home.
- Assures
completion of Service Plans and reviews yearly.
- Assures
core member activities are appropriate and compliant with Service
Plans.
Supervisory
- Serves as
primary contact for staff.
- Encourages
positive interactions with all core members, staff, families,
and community members.
- Determines
staff schedules and assignments, assuring information is posted
in a timely manner.
- Assures
that staff implement service plan activities.
- Assures
completion of required staff training, coordinating registration
for training with the Executive Director.
- Assures
completion of staff orientation.
- Completes
annual performance evaluations in a timely manner.
- Works directly
with House Coordinator to assure house activities and core member
plans are implemented, gaining input about core members’ individual
community environment.
Shopping
- Oversees
menu planning and grocery shopping.
- Oversees
personal care item purchases for core members as needed.
- Oversees
house supply purchases.
- Verifies
monthly medications and records are available.
Maintenance
and Cleaning
- Assures
maintenance of houses and reports to Executive Director.
- Coordinates
vehicle maintenance.
- Reviews
mileage logs.
- Creates
responsibility lists for core members.
- Performs
quality assurance reviews for safety/cleanliness of equipment
and property.
Safety
- Schedules
and conducts safety drills as deemed appropriate for the homes.
- Performs
Monthly Safety Checklists duties.
- Reviews
safety plans quarterly with core members.
- Provides
safety orientation for staff and volunteers at the homes.
Appointments
- Schedules
and coordinates all core member appointments.
- Attends
core member appointments when available.
- Reports
appointment outcomes to Executive Director and House Assistants.
- Coordinates
and participates in monthly house guest events for core members.
Documentation
- Reviews
Medication Administration Records: passed/signed/current.
- Drafts and
reviews a monthly House Meeting form.
- Reviews
daily progress notes and verifies goal achievements.
- Creates
and reviews with Executive Director core members’ quarterly/annual
progress reports.
- Participates
in core member meetings when available.
Finances
- Assists
core members with personal financial management.
Other
- Other duties
as assigned.
Classification:
This position requires tasks that routinely involve a potential
for mucous membranes or skin contact with blood, body fluids, tissues
or potential spills or splashes. Use of appropriate measures is
required for every health care provider in this position.
Qualifications:
Age:
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Education:
BS degree in social services or related field. Certification of
Medication Manager or Medication Administrator, CPR, and First Aid
preferred (must meet requirement within 90 days of employment).
Experience:
Two years full time experience living with or working with adults
or children with special needs. Two years experience in a supervisory
role. Leadership experience required.
Driver’s
License: Must have a valid license and qualify as an insurable
driver.
Physical
Demands: This person will be in good health, free from communicable
diseases, and able to lift and carry over 50 pounds.
Personal
Qualities: Has a demonstrated commitment to meeting physical
and spiritual needs of persons with disabilities. Demonstrates a willingness
to work as a team, is well organized, exemplifies good leadership
skills, is able to plan and supervise the work of others, and has
strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrates compassion
yet firmness in dealing with staff issues.
