Date
for 2008 Fall Benefit Announced
Our annual Fall
Benefit will once again be held at Prairie Moon Winery, on September
20th. Besides our live auction, we will be bringing back our silent
auction, so there will be more options to choose from! The food,
wine, and entertainment promise to make this evening, which is our
main fundraiser for the year, a special one. Click on the link toward
the bottom of this page to view pictures of last year's event. Further
information including directions on how to submit your RSVP will
be posted soon - keep checking back and don’t forget to mark your
calendar!
FAH
Annual Picnic
FAH held its annual picnic, for core members,
staff, board members, and families of all. We gathered at the Coolidge
home on a beautiful summer day. The gazebo was filled with delicious
food and hamburgers and hot dogs were cooked on the grill. Several
people played yard games and everyone had a great time.
Christmas
Party 2007
We
held our annual Christmas party at St. Cecilia’s Church on Sunday,
December 9th. The festive evening included social time followed
by a catered meal. A local women’s chapter of Beta Sigma Phi brought
stockings for each of the core members, filled with gifts picked
out just for them. The Saints Puppeteers from St. Andrew’s Lutheran
Church provided an entertaining program with a message about God’s
love. The core members loved this program! We ended the evening
with core members opening their gifts from Friendship Ark Homes.

Attendees
of our Christmas party once again gave back by bringing donations
of hats, mittens, scarves and socks. Here Mary Beth Oostenbrug,
FAH Executive Director, presents our donated items to Dorothy Ford
of Willson-Beardshear School.
Annual
Bake/Craft Sale
The
Core Members held their 2nd annual bake sale on Friday and Saturday,
Dec. 7-8 at the Ames Fareway Store. Core Members did the baking,
with assistance from staff. They also sold calendars which were
filled with pictures of the core members throughout this past year.
The proceeds from this sale fund the special outing that the core
members choose, for this coming summer. Everything was delicious
and the sale was a big success.

Tune
In to Main Street
Friendship Ark
Homes was privileged to raise awareness of our organization at this
weekly event, on June 28, 2007. The core members were there, having
a good time dunking local celebrities and playing games. We had our
display, house pictures, brochures, and many board members on hand
to spread the word about who we are. Drawings were held, giving away
T-shirts and a “Guess the M&M” prize was won by the mother of
one of our core members. This event was held in Tom Evans park in
downtown Ames, from 5-8 p.m. A local musical group added to the relaxed,
family atmosphere of a lazy, summer evening. Join us next year by
stopping by to say hello, enter your name in one of our drawings,
and shop downtown during the extended hours.
